STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT FOR CLASSES & EVENTS

Adult Classes, Socials, Performances & Events (18+)

Studio Viva is committed to providing a welcoming, respectful, and safe environment. This Code of Conduct applies to all students, guests, instructors, performers, volunteers, vendors, and event attendees.

By participating in a Studio Viva class or event, you agree to follow these expectations.
 

MUTUAL RESPECT AND INCLUSION

Treat everyone with courtesy and respect, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, appearance, experience level, dance ability, or any other personal characteristic.

Discrimination, bullying, intimidation, humiliation, and deliberately exclusionary behavior are not acceptable.
 

CONSENT AND PERSONAL BOUNDARIES

Ask before initiating a dance or physical contact. Each person has the right to accept or decline a dance without explanation.

Consent may be withdrawn at any time—even after a dance has begun. A person who declines or ends a dance must be treated respectfully and must not be pressured, questioned, followed, or criticized.

Communicate clearly about injuries, physical limitations, preferred dance distance, dips, close holds, and other movements that may require additional physical contact. Do not assume that consent to dance includes consent to flirtation, sexual contact, or contact outside the normal context of the dance.

“No,” “stop,” stepping away, pulling back, or otherwise showing discomfort must be respected immediately.
 

APPROPRIATE CONDUCT

Harassment and unwanted behavior are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Unwanted touching, sexual contact, advances, or comments

  • Repeatedly asking someone to dance, socialize, or exchange contact information after they have declined

  • Offensive jokes, slurs, threats, intimidation, or aggressive behavior

  • Following, cornering, photographing, or recording someone against their wishes

  • Retaliating against anyone who establishes a boundary or reports a concern

Respectful flirting between consenting adults is permitted, but participation in a dance, class, or event is never an invitation for romantic or sexual attention.
 

DANCE-FLOOR SAFETY

Dance with awareness of the people and space around you. Adjust the size and intensity of your movements to the conditions of the floor.

Lifts, aerials, drops, performance-style dips, and other high-risk movements do not belong on the social dance floor and are prohibited during social dancing. These movements should only be performed as part of a planned and rehearsed performance, with the consent of everyone involved and in a properly designated performance area.

If someone appears injured, unsafe, or in distress, offer appropriate assistance and notify a Studio Viva instructor, organizer, or venue staff member.

Participants are responsible for recognizing their own physical limitations and communicating relevant injuries or restrictions to their dance partners and instructors.
 

ALCOHOL AND SUBSTANCES

Anyone consuming alcohol must do so responsibly. Intoxication does not excuse inappropriate behavior.

A participant whose judgment, coordination, or conduct creates a safety concern may be asked to stop dancing or leave the event. Illegal drugs and unauthorized substances are prohibited.
 

PERSONAL HYGIENE AND ATTIRE

Maintain reasonable personal hygiene and wear clothing and footwear suitable for dancing and the venue.

Avoid strong fragrances when possible. Bring a change of shirt, towel, or other personal-care items when needed during extended dancing.

Do not apply baby powder, dance wax, rosin, liquids, or any other substance to the dance floor unless expressly authorized by Studio Viva and the venue.
 

PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING

Our events have professional photographers and videographers, you can find the pictures and video a few days after the event.
If you wish to take photos or videos of your own, you must follow all posted photography and recording rules. Obtain permission before taking close-up photos or videos in which another person is the primary subject.

Respect anyone who asks not to be photographed, recorded, tagged, or posted on social media. Studio Viva may designate certain classes, performances, or areas as photography-free.
 

RESPECT FOR THE VENUE

Follow all Studio Viva and venue rules. Treat the facility, employees, equipment, and surrounding property with care.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted unless authorized by the venue. When events are hosted by a restaurant, bar, or other hospitality partner, attendees are encouraged to support the venue through appropriate purchases and gratuities.
 

REPORTING A CONCERN

If you experience or witness conduct that appears unsafe, inappropriate, or in violation of this policy, notify a Studio Viva instructor, event organizer, or designated staff member as soon as possible.

Reports will be handled as discreetly as reasonably possible. Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern or participates in reviewing one is prohibited.

In an emergency or when there is an immediate threat to safety, contact venue security or emergency services.
 

ENFORCEMENT

Studio Viva may respond to a concern by providing a reminder or warning, requiring a participant to stop certain behavior, removing someone from a class or event, or suspending or permanently prohibiting participation.

The response will depend on the nature, severity, and frequency of the conduct. Serious behavior may result in immediate removal without a prior warning or refund.

Studio Viva may involve venue management, security, or law enforcement when reasonably necessary for safety or as required by law.

Our shared responsibility is simple: respect boundaries, communicate clearly, dance safely, and help create an environment in which everyone can enjoy participating.
